Matthew 2

Father, help me to seek You more than anything.

“…Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, ‘Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?  We saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.'” (v 1-2 NIV)

“…the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.  When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.  On coming to the house, they saw the child with His mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped Him.  Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.” (v 9-11 NIV)

Father, here are people who were from a foreign land, who had been aware of Your coming as the Messiah, and who had sought You out.  Upon finding You as a child, they expressed themselves in joy, worship, and gifts.  May I continually be as enamored with Your Son as these people were.

Oh, my precious Lord, ALL honor belongs to You simply because You are YOU.  May I bring You glory from my lips and from my life.  Like these Magi, may I be willing to give You gifts of value to me, so that I truly give up a gift that honors You, Lord.

After these wise men had delivered their gifts, You spoke to them in a dream, telling them to go home by a different route.  Keep my heart open to going in whatever new direction aligns with Your will for me, as You keep on making me just like Jesus.  Amen.
