John 3

Father, every bit of the person You’d have me to be, I long to be.

“This is how MUCH God loved the world: He gave His Son, His one and only Son.  And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.” (v 16 MSG)

Thank You for loving ME so much, Papa!  🙂  Take my eyes so totally off myself that I see nothing before me but the needs of others.  May I be Your love to others.

“Whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.” (v 21 NIV)

Father, all things in my life point back to You.  You have been the Source of all I have, the Strength for all I’ve done, the Guide for my path.  How blessed I am to walk in You truth.  Well, in reality, to “walk in Your truth” means “walking with You” because YOU are TRUTH.

“He must be greater; I must become less.” — John the Baptist (v. 30)

“To become holy, I must first become humble.  I need to understand God’s holiness, before I can understand His grace.” — Kathy Troccoli, referring to 2 Chronicles 7:14

There have been times, Lord, when You have brought me utterly to my knees in recognition of Your true place in my life.  You are not merely my Savior; You desire to be the Lord of my life.  That requires that I abdicate the rights to sit on the throne of my heart, making way for You.  As the Message puts v 30, “This is the assigned moment for Him to move to the center, while I slip off to the sidelines.”

Make my heart a humble one that simply reflects You.  You are to be the focus of my life.  You are “above all” (v. 31).  “The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in His hands.  Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life…” (v. 35-36 NIV) Thank You for this life You’ve given me.  May my life lead others lives to the place where they find true life in You, as You continue to make me just like Jesus.  Amen.
