Mark 6:1-6

Show me Jesus, Father, and show others the Jesus in me.

“…On the Sabbath, He gave a lecture in the meeting place.  He made a real hit, impressing everyone … But in the next breath they were cutting Him down … They tripped over what little they knew about Him and fell, sprawling.  And they never got any further … Jesus wasn’t able to do much of anything there … He couldn’t get over their stubbornness…” (6:2, 3, 5, 6 MSG)

You are all-powerful, Lord Jesus.  Yet it tells me here that my stubbornness can get in the way of the wondrous things You’d like to do in my life.  If there are times when I allow my own logic, human reasoning, and practical thinking to be my guide, then my faith takes a back seat, and I’m no longer trusting in You.  Hmmm … reminds me of the words You had the writer of Proverbs pen:  “Trust the Lord with all your heart and LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct Your paths.” (Prov 3:5-6)

Help me, Father, to remain attentive to You, to not lean on what I know, but to trust in what You know, do and desire.  Keep on making me like Jesus, guiding me in His footsteps.  Amen.
