Acts 13

Father, make a difference in my heart that’s daily evident in my life.

“The God of the people of Israel chose our fathers; He made the people prosper during their stay in Egypt, with mighty power He led them out of that country, He endured their conduct for about forty years in the desert, He overthrew seven nations in Canaan and gave their land to His people as their inheritance.  All this took about 450 years.” (v 17-19 NIV)

WHAT a plan You have, Father!  To we who are limited by time and space, it seems to have unfolded over MUCH longer than it could’ve to You.  Yet, while You desire so much good stuff for us, You are patient with us beyond belief.  You “endure [my] conduct” like You did the Israelites, because, like them, YOU’VE chosen ME to be Your child, Your instrument here in this world.  You go before me to overthrow the enemy and You hand me each victory as part of my inheritance.

“After removing Saul, He made David their king.  He testified concerning him: ‘I have found David, son of Jesse, a MAN AFTER MY OWN HEART; he will do everything I want him to do.'” (v 22 NIV)

Father, adhere running shoes to my heart that I might run after YOUR heart.  Keep me seeking Your face, seeking to know You.  Thanks You for Your promise that says I get to find You in the midst of my seeking.  Shape my heart into one that does everything YOU want me to do.

“The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath … What God promised our fathers He has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus…” (v 27, 32-33 NIV)

Thank You for Jesus.  Thank You for saving me by His sacrifice.  Thank You for loving me, even when I was Your enemy because of my sin.  Thank You for Your mercy that You extend to me each day.  You replenish Your mercy account every morning, since You know that my humanity will surely access a withdrawal at some point.  Thank You for never giving up on me.  Thank You for fulfilling all that You have promised … and THEN some!  Keep on making me just like Jesus.  Amen.
